About the vacancies we list

Jobenza aggregates vacancies advertised publicly by employers, recruiters and job portals. We are not the employer, we do not process applications, and we receive no part of any salary. Closing dates, salary ranges and requirements are set by the advertiser and can change without notice.

How to avoid job scams in South Africa

Unemployment makes jobseekers a target. Please read this before you send anything to anyone.

Warning signs

  • Any request for money. Registration fees, “admin” fees, courier fees for a contract, payment for training, uniforms or a medical before you are employed. Legitimate South African employers do not charge you to be hired.
  • Requests for your bank card, PIN, or a copy of your card. An employer needs your bank account number for salary payment only after you have signed an offer, and never your PIN or card.
  • Pressure and urgency. “Only 3 spots left, pay today to secure your place.”
  • Interviews only over WhatsApp with no company email address, no landline and no verifiable office.
  • A salary far above the market for a role requiring no experience.
  • Free email addresses (gmail, outlook) used in place of a company domain by a large, well-known employer.
  • Being asked for your ID document and selfies before any formal offer, which enables identity fraud.

How to protect yourself

  • Verify the vacancy on the employer’s own careers page before applying.
  • Phone the company using a number from its official website, not one supplied in the advert.
  • Never pay to apply, and never send airtime or a voucher code.
  • Keep certified copies of documents rather than sending originals.
  • Ask for the offer in writing on company letterhead before sharing banking details.

Where to report a scam

Report suspected recruitment fraud to the South African Police Service, and to the employer whose name is being used, so they can warn others. You can also report the listing to us at support@jobenza.co.za and we will remove it.
